If you want to live like a Republican...

  

This tsunami election was not a revolution of minimum wage workers. Sure, the minority groups were finally able to get on the same page, but this electoral result was the culmination of more than all the barrios and ghettos could possibly muster. This anger went beyond canceled welfare checks and ICE abused abuelitas. This coalition included folk who could rightfully be called elites who had started feeling the same insecurity as the rest of us.

The price of influence had been driven beyond the reach of plain old ordinary millionaires. The inflation from the ever growing riches of the billionaires in their quest to be the next trillionaire had turned many of the high and mighty into the lost and turned out. When your $100,000 contribution is essentially in the same category as a $5 contribution from the working poor, you feel the same insecurity as the rest of us. If your long green is too short to move the needle, it's time to grab a pitch fork and a torch and join the unwashed masses headed for the castle gates.

The question is, what happens when the entry level elites begin to feel more secure again. Do they continue to vote like Democrats, or do they, once again, abandon the Throw the Bums Out caucus that has issued forth the prevailing golden egg to renew their pursuit of the Republican lifestyle the old fashioned way.

Will they continue to support the cause or will it be like Groundhog Day all over again; the Republicans fuck the economy and the country to hell and back and then call in the Democrats to clean up on aisle 7. 

As things improve, eventually, the 2nd and 3rd tier elites start to feel better about themselves. Then miraculously, they once again suddenly find themselves susceptible to Willie Horton and migrant caravans and welfare queens arguments. From there all it would take is for some uppity black woman to out maneuver some entitled white man for the last parking spot and then bip bap boom, Don junior is El Presidente for life. 

It could happen, and probably will happen. If you count Nixon this was their 4th attempt. Sooner or later they are going to figure out how to do it correctly.

The Obama coalition didn't exist didn't until Obama's reelection. His first election was the original Throw the Bums Out coalition following Dubya's entry into the "let's see who can fuck the nation hardest" contest. With the stock market halved and the world economy verging on total collapse, maybe we ought to give this colored feller a shot at it. But memories were short, and the living was easy. And we sure as hell didn't want to keep that socialism shit up once we saved the financial institutions.

So as they say, we shall see. 

But the Democrats might not want to make things too easy for the entitled few, I don't know if we can recover from a 3rd round of "you break it, we fix it".
